This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit or make a purchase or donate at http://www.000foundation.org.au/ or http://www.firefighterclimb.org.au (the “Site”). The policy also describes other personal information relating to the operations of 000 Foundation and its associated activities.

Policy Statement

000 Foundation is committed to protecting and maintaining the privacy, accuracy and security of all personal information and will apply the ‘Australian Privacy Principles’ as they apply from time to time.

Personal information shall only be collected where the information is reasonably necessary for the functions and activities of 000 Foundation and to the health, well-being and protection of participants in its operations or activities (such as the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb). 000 Foundation will take all reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information it collects is accurate, up to date and complete when undertaking activities from participants.

It is 000 Foundation policy that 000 Foundation team members and employees are required to respect the confidentiality of participants, custodial parents, employees, and supporters’ personal information and the privacy of individuals. 000 Foundation will take all reasonable steps to protect such personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorized access, modification or disclosure.

000 Foundation will use personal information it collects for the primary purpose of collection and for secondary purposes that are related to the primary purpose of collection or to which a person has consented and when legally required to do so.

000 Foundation respects every parent’s right to make decisions concerning their child.

Personal Information Collected

When you visit our Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. We refer to this automatically-collected information as “Device Information.”

  • When you make a donation, register for an event, purchase or attempt to make a purchase through the Site, we collect certain information from you, including your name, billing address, shipping address, payment information (including credit card numbers), email address, and phone number. We refer to this information as “Order Information.”

Personal information collected or held may include ‘sensitive information’ such as an individual’s health information, racial or ethnic origin or criminal record. It may also include information recorded in archived emails, the 000 Foundation (or Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb) website and social media platforms.

  • information or an opinion about an individual’s racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, membership of a political association, religious beliefs or affiliations, philosophical beliefs, membership of a professional or trade association, membership of a trade union, sexual orientation or practices, criminal record that is also personal information; or
  • health information about an individual; or
  • genetic information about an individual that is not otherwise health information; or
  • biometric information that is to be used for the purpose of automated biometric verification or biometric identification; or
  • biometric templates.

Why do we collect sensitive information?

We may collect sensitive information relating to your health or relevant conditions for events such as the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb to assist our medical and first aid teams.

How do we use your Personal Information?

We use the Order Information that we collect generally to fulfill any orders placed through the Site (including processing your payment information, arranging for shipping, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations). Additionally, we use this Order Information to communicate with you, screen our orders or donations for potential risk or fraud, and when in line with the preferences you have shared with us, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services.


We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).

We share your Personal Information with third parties to help us use your Personal Information, as described above. e.g. to process payments or collate and analyse participant’s and event registration information

Finally, we may also share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.

We will not sell or share your information with other parties other than as specifically described in this Privacy Policy.

Your Rights

Under the Privacy Act 2001 (C’th), and the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic), an individual has the right to access any personal information which 000 Foundation holds about them and advise 000 Foundation of any perceived inaccuracy.

To make a request to access or update any personal information 000 Foundation holds about a person the Privacy Officer should be contacted in writing. 000 Foundation may require a person to verify their identity. 000 Foundation may charge a fee to cover the cost of verifying an application and locating, retrieving, reviewing and copying any information requested. If the information sought is extensive, 000 Foundation will advise the likely cost in advance. If 000 Foundation cannot provide a person with access to that information, 000 Foundation will provide written notice explaining the reasons for refusal.

Requests for access will be responded to within a reasonable time (usually no more than 10 business days).

Data Retention

When you provide us with information, we will maintain this in our records for at least 7 years unless and until you ask us to delete this information unless we are required by law to retain it.

Changes

We may update this privacy policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons.
